2,000 Students Join SSS Summer Training Program

MANILA, Philippines — More than 2,000 students on Thursday participated in the Social Security System's summer job training orientation in Quezon City.

GMA News' Ruth Cabal reported over QTV's Balitanghali that the participants were dependents of overseas Filipino workers and local employees who were displaced amid the global economic recession.

The report said the SSS launched the program as part of its efforts to help its affected members and their families cushion the effects of the ongoing financial crisis.

SSS executive vice president for operations Horacio Templo added that aside from receiving a P340 daily allowance, selected-students could also use the summer job training to boost their credentials.
