How to continue SSS contribution?

This tip is just on a personal basis level as I myself have stopped for 4 years consecutively in my SSS contribution. I would just like to share my experience to others so they may learn from it in my own small way regarding a common question for most members on "how to continue SSS contribution".

Considering Capability to Remit Monthly Contribution

If your goal is to keep up with your monthly remittance or contribution to the Social Security System in the Philippines, first thing you have to realize is if you have the finance and resources to remit money on a monthly regular basis because if you don't then, chances are, you will still end up with intermittent contribution as a self paying or self employed member.

2 Categories of Unemployed Members

Another tips for you is to know which specific category you will under, should you continue to make a contribution and think that you can cope up with the monthly obligation. If this is so, then see or at least ask in your nearest SSS branch which category you should fall under if you want to continue paying your monthly SSS remittance. There are 2 categories that you can possibly fall under if you are currently not employed or unemployed. These are, self-paying or voluntary contribution and self-employed members.

Choosing Between Self-Paying and Self-Employed Status

Mind you that whether you choose to go for the self-paying or the self-employed member, you have to think and consider the fact that if your real goal other than just to pay and continue your remittance is to make a bigger loan or to receive a bigger monthly pension, you have to make your contribution as high as you can afford. Why? It's because the amount of loan as well as the pension each individual SSS member will receive will vary or depend upon the amount of the last payment he or she made to the Social Security System office.

Make Your Inquiry

Now, if you really want to continue making your contribution, these facts and factors should be put to a priority. Should there be any changes to the system or basic laws of the agency of the government that handles social security insurance, then it is still best advised to consult to the nearest branch.
