First off you have to know what is SSS calamity loan by definition of the Social Security System of Philippines - "It is a loan intended to meet the emergency credit needs of a member who is a victim of a natural disaster in a locality declared as a calamity area."
Who Qualifies for Calamity Loan? (Source: SSS.Gov.Ph)
- A currently employed, self-employed or voluntary member who is a resident of a calamity area as covered by Presidential Proclamation or as declared by the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) or the concerned Local Government Unit (LGU).
- He must have paid at least a total of 24 monthly contributions throughout his membership, including two monthly contributions within the one-year period prior to filing date.
- He has not yet been granted a refund of contributions, retirement or total permanent disability benefits.
- He must be up-to-date in the payment of all member loan obligations, including the following:
salary loan calamity loan emergency loan stock investment loan privatization fund loan special educational loan for vocational and technical students special educational loan for Y2K conversion training member assistance for the development of entrepreneurship (MADE), and housing loan granted through the SSS, National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) and Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG).
- The amount of calamity loan shall be granted only to the extent that the loan being applied for plus the member's total outstanding loan balance at the time of application shall not exceed P50,000, except those of member assistance for the development of entrepreneurship (MADE) and housing loans.
- His employer, if any, must be up-to-date in contributions and loan remittances.
- He has not been disqualified by the Social Security Commission (SSC) for having filed a fraudulent loan application with the SSS.

What if I had a P2,000 unpaid amount from my sss salary loan? The cause of that unpaid amount is because I tranfered into a new company. Can I be qualified to filed a new application? Is it possible to deduct my unpaid balance from my new loan once it is approved?.
Yes you may because it clearly states in my update post above that:
"A member with an existing calamity loan may avail of another calamity loan, provided that his total calamity loan availment does not exceed P10,000. The outstanding balance of any earlier calamity loan will not be deducted from his new loan."

Venus, if you are working today, every step of you calamity or salary loan will have to be filed in your accounting office kasi sila din ang nagseset ng remittance mo and you will need the company ID for filing any type of loan.
Anonymous, ang salary loan po ay considered an emergency loan. Ayon sa SSS 2 days na lang daw ang pinaka mabilis na processing nito at walang kinalaman kung may existing salary loan ka pa. It means that you can still make or apply for a calamity loan provided that you don't have any existing calamity loan amounting to 2,000.00 pesos.
Anonymous, if you only have 2 years of payment you can avail of calamity loan because if you read the # 2 above it clearly states it.
Anonymous, ang calamity and salary loan may coincide. At least that is what I know kasi ako personally ay napagsabay ko yan pero way back a few years na am not sure kung binago na ang system.
Remember that calamity loan is an emergency loan and as long as you pass all the standards by SSS above, you are qualified.

Watched the news awhile ago. Sabi if you have an existing salary loan dapat paid yun ng at least half for you to qualify for the calamity loan. Mine will be renewed Feb 2011 so it only means ilang months pa lang ako nakakapay.

Also, I am concerned regarding my eligibilty status I got from SSS online inquiry. It states there that I have an existing loan which as I've mentioned earlier be renewed on Feb 2011 making me ineligible for another loan. Does it mean another salary loan?

I have a question regarding the salary loan. I recently resigned from work and I'm currently serving my last 30 days. I checked the SSS site and I have 3 months worth of contributions not yet paid by the company. I still plan on paying voluntarily. Can I still avail of the calamity loan?
Also, what documents do I need to submit to them about it? I also checked on the site that I can avail of the salary loan in November since I had availed of it 2 years ago. My worry is the last payment of my salary loan if I'll be paying for it myself or if my company will still shoulder it. My last day will be on Oct.14.
